The beginning of the bloody revolution

anniversary a few days ago again, the massacre of September 1792.
The storming of the royal palace a few weeks earlier , where the royal family was captured, was bleeding and called for numerous deaths. A report by the Swiss Guard is to be found even in this blog. Famous were the days-long massacre of September 1792, was the lynching of Madame de Lamballe a personal confidante of Marie Antoinette. She was arrested in the assault on the Tuileries, and on 3 September 1792 publicly lynched by citizens. Just as they died in the days of September 1500 clergy, members of the nobility and other detainees that were taken out of prisons and in the fast-sentenced to death or massacred on the same spot. Danton, who was at that time Minister of Justice, could not prevent the massacre of defenseless prisoners. Although the Paris riots ran with blood, human sacrifices were measured in the years to the reign of terror rather low. In the following years until about the end of the Revolution 1799 250 000 French people were violently killed.

* The above portrait of Madame de Lamballe shows a little-known painting by Anton Hickel in the possession of the collection of light stone.
